Hello Everybody, I have a 1938 12 hp saloon with a downdraught SU carburetter which has not got a damper in the piston in the dashpot, is this correct? Does anyone know where further info on these carburetters can be found please?
Cheers Trevor

The downdraught SU carburetter does not have a dashpot and surprisingly doesn't seem to need one. Certainly my 1939 Rover 14 runs very nicely with this type of carb. Some Alvis models also used identical downdraught carbs.

They have a stonger spring in the dashpot than on the side draught ones.
